Some countries have a few numbers of people entering the USA as immigrants. In order to give opportunities to these people, a set number of immigrant visas are divided among countries with low admission rates. A lottery is held and designated by the USA Secretary of State. Each interested alien can join the lottery selection process by sending in one petition / application. If the alien's name is chosen, an immigrant visa number is made available. About 50,000 persons, both principal applicants and their spousesand children, will be registered. The registration period ends on December 1 2008. Registrations arriving to us after this date will not be submitted. Natives (someone born) of the
following countries are not eligible to apply because they
sent a total of more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the previous five
years: There is no minimum age to apply for the program, but an applicant must have EITHER a high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of elementary and secondary education; OR two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training or experience to perform. Your spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21 are automatically entitled to the same status as you. To doubling their chance to win, a husband a and wife may each submit one lottery application. If either is selected in the lottery, the other would be entitled to derivative status. Children over the age of 21 and married children under the age of 21 must file separate lottery entries. They can not be listed on their parent's entry forms. You must list ALL your children who are unmarried and under 21 years of age, whether they are your natural children, your spouse’s children by a previous marriage, or children you have formally adopted in accordance with the laws of your country, unless a child is already a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident. List all children under 21 years of age even if they no longer reside with you or you do not intend for them to immigrate under the DV program. Green Card Lottery winners are randomly selected by computer drawing and will be notified by mail. The State Department will notify the winners that they have won the opportunity to apply for a permanent resident visa allowing them to live and work in the U.S.A. and later even apply for U.S citizenship. Applicants who are not selected will receive no response to their entry. Only those who are selected will be informed. The Kentucky Consular Center has in past years rejected millions of applications that were not submitted correctly. We believe this service will be of interest to people who are concerned about whether their application is being submitted properly. An estimated one-third of applications (2,9 millions) for the lottery are rejected because they are submitted incorrectly.
